Getting Started in Three Easy Steps

1 - Reach out

Fill out the contact form; you do not need to explain everything, just enough for us to reach out and to point you in the right direction.

2 - Get matched

Our office administrator will pair you with the counselor whose specialty and availability fit what you need. If you already know who you want to see, let us know.

3 - Get Started!

Your first session is a conversation, not an interrogation. You will talk about what brought you in and the goals you want to achieve.

What is Talk Therapy?

Happy Adult Female Representing Talk Therapy

Through conversation, reflection, activities, and practical tools, you gain insight into your own patterns, build coping strategies that fit your life, and work toward lasting change.

It starts with the relationship. Talk therapy works by forming a therapeutic alliance built on trust, safety, collaboration, and the experience of being understood. From there, you begin to see yourself more clearly, which makes it possible to respond to situations on purpose rather than react to them. That opens up room to process what you are feeling, shift how you think about it, and eventually change what you do.

Your counselor may draw on any number of approaches depending on what fits you, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, psychodynamic therapy, person-centered therapy, trauma-focused approaches, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, family therapy, and narrative therapy.

Is Talk Therapy For You?

  • Stress or worry has started running the day

  • Racing thoughts keep you up all night

  • You are anxious, low, or flat and cannot point to one clear reason

  • A relationship keeps hitting the same wall

  • A transition has knocked you sideways: a move, a loss, a diagnosis, an empty house

  • Parenting is harder than you expected and you have nobody to say that to

  • You do not like how you talk to yourself

  • Nothing is technically wrong, and you still want more from your life than this

If any of this sounds familiar, talk therapy may be a helpful path forward.

Ashley Smith - Owner, LPC, RPT
Ashley has helped equip me with tools for parenting my son who went through a major change in his life. She listened, took time to give me materials, and helped me feel supported as the parent. I would recommend her for parents who have a child needing emotional support!
