Kristen Hutch, LMFT

Jo Gemlich, LCSW-S, therapist at Grateful Heart Counseling in Denton, TX

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Specialties: I specialize in working with individuals, couples, parents, and parent-child relationships with children ages 2 to 7. My goal is to help clients with navigating relational challenges, creating healthy bonds, and fostering meaningful, lasting change.

I offer in-person sessions for all clients and virtual sessions only for individuals and couples.

Approaches: My therapeutic approach is collaborative, compassionate, conversational, and always from a “systemic” lens as I believe no man (or woman) is an island! I draw from the Gottman Method, Emotion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Love & Logic to help clients understand unproductive patterns and improve their personal and relational well-being.

I also strive to create a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I value building genuine therapeutic relationships and believe that trust and rapport are essential to the growth process!

Experience: I have clinical experience in private practice and outpatient mental health as well as pastoral counseling under the supervision of military chaplains.

I have had the privilege of serving military families and underserved communities in a therapeutic setting since 2020. Because of this experience, I provide support that recognizes the unique challenges, strengths, and circumstances of these particular populations.

Additionally, as a veteran spouse and mother of 3, I bring a personal  understanding of the unique demands, transitions, and stressors of family life. That said, I am committed to fostering a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to mange their own challenges!

I am in-network with: Aetna, Cigna, and Carelon.

(Coming Soon: BCBS, UHC, UMR, GEHA, Tricare, and Medicare)
