Jo Gemlich, LCSW-S

Hispanic EMDR therapist with standing with her arms crossed

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker - Supervisor.

Specialties: I primarily work with adults (18+) who are navigating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and major life transitions. I know how overwhelming it can feel when emotions become difficult to manage, and my goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and empowered as you move toward healing and balance.

I also enjoy working with couples and families who may feel stuck in unhealthy patterns, disconnected, or challenged by communication difficulties. Together, we create space for honest conversations, deeper understanding, and healthier relationships.

In addition, I have a special passion for supporting women during the prenatal and postpartum stages of life. This season can bring both joy and unexpected emotional challenges, and you do not have to navigate it alone. I provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you can feel cared for and supported.

My goal is to help you get where you want to be by offering a safe, welcoming space to process your experiences, gain insight, and grow. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but you don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. Healing takes courage, and I truly believe you are worthy of that investment in yourself.

Approaches: My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs. I believe each person’s story matters, and I strive to meet you exactly where you are without pressure or judgment. Together, we will explore how your thoughts, emotions, past experiences, and relationships may be shaping the way you experience yourself and the world around you.

I focus on helping clients build insight, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen emotional resilience, and feel more confident navigating life’s challenges. My goal is for therapy to feel like a supportive partnership where you can safely explore difficult emotions while also discovering your strengths.

I integrate a variety of evidence-based approaches depending on your goals and needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also use a trauma-informed, integrative approach to help clients process painful experiences and move toward healing in a way that feels safe and manageable.

Experience: I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and board-approved supervisor in the state of Texas. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington and have been practicing as a clinician since 2020. I can provide support to new clinicians as well.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals through trauma, emotional struggles, and significant life challenges across a variety of treatment settings, including private practice and intensive outpatient programs (PHP/IOP). I have experience working with military personnel, spouses of active-duty service members, women in the postpartum period, and individuals facing high-acuity mental health concerns.

I am deeply committed to creating a therapeutic space where clients feel heard, respected, and genuinely supported as they work toward healing and meaningful change.

I am in-network with: BCBS, Aetna, UnitedHealth Care/UHC, UMR, Cigna,

GEHA, Tricare, and Medicare.
