Russell Ammons, Practicum Student
Supervised by Ashley Smith, LPC-S, RPT
I am a Practicum Student under the supervision of Ashley Smith, LPC-S, RPT.
Specialties: As a practicum student, I am especially interested in working with clients who are navigating ADHD, anxiety, overwhelm, life transitions, relationship stress, motivation challenges, and shame or self-criticism. I enjoy helping clients identify what matters to them, recognize what is already working, and take practical steps toward the life they want to build.
Approaches: My approach to counseling is collaborative, practical, and hope-centered. I draw primarily from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered counseling, with a special interest in ADHD-informed care. I help clients identify strengths, reduce shame, clarify what they want to be different, and take realistic next steps toward change.
Experience: I am a counseling practicum student pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My background includes years of experience working closely with individuals and families in relationship-based roles, where I developed strong skills in listening, encouragement, problem-solving, and helping people navigate stressful situations. I bring a practical, compassionate, and collaborative style to counseling, with a focus on helping clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to move forward.
