Destinie Herrera - LCSW, LCCA
Specialties: I have the privilege of walking alongside children (ages 3–17) and young adults (ages 18–24) as they work through life’s ups and downs. Together, we navigate challenges such as school stress, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, behavioral struggles, self-esteem, self-harm, and the pain of grief and loss.
I offer in-person sessions for all ages and also provide virtual sessions on a case-by-case basis to help meet each person’s unique needs.
Approaches: My approach is always guided by what each client needs most. I draw from a variety of methods—including Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Art Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing—to best support each person where they are. My goal is to help identify any barriers, uncover motivation, and empower clients by building on their unique strengths. Together, we work toward developing the tools and confidence needed to create meaningful and lasting positive change.
Experience: With over 10 years of experience working with children in a variety of settings, I bring a deep understanding of developmental needs and the complexities of family dynamics. I have extensive experience supporting clients with significant trauma histories and parent–child relationship challenges. Throughout my career, I have worked across multiple levels of care—including crisis intervention, inpatient hospitalization, outpatient (PHP/IOP) programs, and private practice—which has given me a comprehensive perspective on the continuum of mental health care. My approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based practices to create a safe and supportive environment where healing and growth can take place.
